The Weekly Address #04

Foam, Fibres, and Fires

Hello and welcome back. We know what you’re thinking, “It’s time for the fourth weekly address already?” Time really is flying by. All the more reason not to waste it, let’s jump in.

First up, shampoo and soap. Usually bought together, now a single unit. Yes, genius product designer, Jonna Breitenhuber, has created shampoo and shower gel bottles…made completely out of soap. It all just makes so much sense.

Stage direction, costume, choreography…and 16km of nylon? Why not. This Dutch performance of “L’Orfeo” – the oldest opera still performed by the way – uses a giant kinetic nylon sculpture to represent the inner world of characters on stage. It’s seriously out of the box thinking.

This next one’s very, very satisfying to watch. It’s called “What’s Inside” and it’s a stop motion by the artist Dina Amin. She’s got a passion for making videos out of disposed items, it’s pretty niché, but it works. The attention to detail is mind-blowing.

Last but not least, an incredibly moving short film about rivalry, that’s also a Brazilian Whatsapp ad. The storyline, cinematography, and the way it genuinely communicates the brand’s USP – magical. See for yourself.

We’re not crying, you are. Now wipe those tears and go make some more creative magic. We’ll see you next week.
