The Weekly Address #07

Type, Tides, and Torture

Hello, you troopers. Hope you’re keeping sane. Despite the state of the world right now, the creative inspiration lives on, thankfully. So without further ado, here’s work that’ll lift your spirits and hopefully inspire your ideas. Jump in.

This first one’s from us. Ever heard of ‘36 Days of Type’? It’s a challenge for creatives on Instagram to design a letter or number each day for 36 days – self explanatory, really. This year the talented designers over at Oval are giving it a go, and it’s brilliant. Make sure to follow the work as it unfolds from the Office of Mr. President:

School’s may be closed, but there’s always time for art lessons. The award-winning author and illustrator, Rob Biddulph launched #DrawWithRob last week to teach parents and their young ones to draw from home. It’s free, easy to follow, and a wholesome use of time. Something tells us the adults are gonna like this one more than the kids. Here’s the first episode:

In photography news, finalist entries for Nikon’s 2020 Surf Photography Awards are out – and they are stunning. The images were chosen by a panel of high profile surf industry judges, based on factors like “dramatic effect” and “sensory impact”. Basically we really want to hit some waves now and you likely will too.

Brace yourselves for the most bonkers mockumentary you’ll see this week. It’s a film called ‘Assholes’ and it follows a team of scientists as they torture plants in an effort to get them to talk. You can read that sentence over and over, but you really just have to watch it to understand:

Lastly, if you’ve ever felt a bit stuck, or like everything’s up in the air, this one’s for you. It’s the short tale of a curious man who found himself quite literally stuck, on a sex swing. How did he get there? Does he ever get off? Let’s find out:

As always, we hope you have a wonderful week. Self-isolate, wash your hands, and stay healthy. We’ll see you very soon.
