What We’re Doing for Diversity

Diversity has been at the heart of Mr President since our advent, but it’s not enough to have it “on the agenda”. As an industry we have become better at talking about the importance of gender equality, but just talking isn’t going to cut it. We believe real change will only come when we are able to hold up the incredible creative work created by women and shout “look what can be achieved!”. After all, women are more than agents of change – they are creative superstars.

Laura Jordan Bambach featured in the VOWSS programme

Which is why we are proud to have worked closely with SheSays and Voice of a Woman to produce VOWSS, a forum to showcase an extraordinary selection of the best short films – commercials, branded content, dramas, documentaries, art/experimental-films and music-videos – created by women internationally. The event drew over 200 submissions from women across the world.

On Wednesday the 21st of June scores of people ventured away from the crowded Palais to a local cinema, Cinema Les Arcades, where they were treated to a screening of the 20+ shortlisted entries. An incredible jury of industry leaders in advertising, film, VR and technology selected 27 to screen and honoured a few selections as standouts.

Our work at VOWSS attracted accolade from The Guardian, Campaign and The Drum, plus many more

At a time when the industry needs to take stock in the creativity at the heart of its business, VOWSS provided a wake-up call of what can be accomplished when we look to the diverse talent at our finger tips.

Congratulations to the winners from the inaugural 2017 VOWSS!
